At the very beginning Odyssey House was just a residential treatment for men, but due to the growing need for addiction recovery facilities with effective programs they expanded their services to women and adolescents. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA). Clients often choose to enter intensive outpatient programs (IOP) when they exit inpatient rehab. Intensive outpatient rehabs offer high-level care for clients in early recovery and those at an elevated risk of relapse, typically requiring them to commit to between nine and 20 hours of treatment per week.
